Your client’s history and future
If your clients company has existed for quite a while check out the various logos your client has used. You may create a new logo based upon that or make radical, fresh and futuristic changes.
Talk with your client about their future plans. What are they planning for the next year or five years? Are they releasing a new product or changing their direction completely? Businesses tend to change over time, so make sure your logo is future proof.

Your own archives
Your own old sketches can be a great source of new inspiration. For every logo design you should create dozens of sketches before you choose the one you like the most. Don’t throw them away as they can become a priceless source of ideas. They may not have worked for another client; it doesn’t mean they won’t work this time. Go back and take advantage of this opportunity.

Random images
It’s a good idea to search for images on Google Images and Pinterest. Look them through, pick the elements that you like – colors, shapes, typefaces etc. and see whether they work together.

Other designers
My personal hero and inspiration is a German designer Dieter Rams, the man who designed for Braun. His ten principles are a timeless source of inspiration that most any designer can appreciate. According to Dieter Rams good design:
- Is innovative.
- Makes a product useful.
- Is aesthetic.
- Makes a product understandable.
- Is unobtrusive.
- Is honest.
- Is long-lasting.
- Is thorough down to the last detail.
- Is environmentally friendly.
- Is as little design as possible.
